Medium-Voltage Variable Frequency Drive
WEG Electric Corp., a leading global supplier of motors, drives, controls, transformers, and generators, is releasing the 8000-HP MVW-01 medium-voltage variable-frequency drive.
With the first unit shipping in April, the 8000-HP VFD is the largest ever manufactured by WEG Electric. This expansion in capability doubles the HP available from the MVW01 drive. The MVW-01 features 99% efficiency and a 22-year mean time between failure (MTBF), the highest available in the market.
“It is important to note that the 99% efficiency is an average of 1% more than other medium voltage VFDs on the market, which can mean a savings of up to $50,000 per year, depending on the application,” says Charles Schuh, product manager, WEG Electric.
The MVW-01 is ideal for high-demand applications, such as mining, cement, shipping, iron metallurgy, and petro-chemical. Technologically advanced components, such as HV-IGBTs, are incorporated into the product to offer maximum reliability.
